How to Succeed in this Economy, Part Two

THE INDUSTRY

______________________________________________________________

In How to Succeed in this Economy, Part One we discussed the essential importance of being indispensible to your clients in order to kept them as a lifetime client.  This should be the goal of every business-to-business company, but can also be applied to business-to-consumer companies to create repeat business and referrals, the lifeblood of successful all consumer trades.

In a downsized economy there seems to be less of everything - less business, less opportunities, less employees, less money and so on.  This creates a greater need of competency, the skill of your company to perform under these downsized circumstances.  Everyone seems to be doing more with less.  The challenge is to do this successfully to remain profitable.  You, your company and your employees must each excel at what each of you does best to be successful.

Your best skills are what you must now focus on to succeed in your business.  Most likely these are the skills you were hired to do in the first place or they are the skills that first propelled you into business as an owner. Through downsizing many employees and even owners take on additional jobs and tasks that take them away from what they do best .This makes you and your company less competent.

Tasks and lower value jobs must be delegated to less skilled employees to free up highly skilled employees and owners to create new business opportunities.  Creating new business requires high-level sales skills, which, when applied, can make most businesses successful regardless of the economy.
